Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd was incorporated on 5 October 1967 under the Companies Proclamation Act No. 71 of 1959. Initially the company’s activity was focused on electrical sub contract work throughout Botswana. |

|
As a result of the total reliance of the electrical industry on foreign suppliers Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd in 1977 expanded it’s operations to include a commercial section for the supply of electrical goods and equipment in Gaborone and Francistown. During 1986 a need was identified to manufacture electrical distribution boards locally and the company implemented an expansion programme to incorporate this activity into the group. |

Since then the company has implemented regular expansion programmes and has modernized the operation to keep up with improved technology and to endeavor to maintain the market edge required to ensure company success. |

The company is locally based with its Head Offices in Gaborone, Botswana and a branch office in Francistown. The company employs in excess of 250 permanent professional, technical, administrative, supervisory and skilled members of staff. |

Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd is an independent organization and is registered with the Central Tender Boars, BOCCIM and the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors of Botswana. We are represented at the Botswana Bureau of Standards Technical Committees and the Ministry of Education Technical Programme Advisory Council. |

Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd operates an in-house Quality Assurance System based on ISO 9000 and practices Safety Procedures in accordance with NOSA. Our technical and supervisory staff is certified to enable them to carry out switching operations on Medium Voltage Systems. |
Organisation and Places of Operation
The Head Office of Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd is situated at Plot No. 1236 Hailie Selassie Road, Gaborone. (see map)
HEAD OFFICE
The Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd Head Office accommodates the Directors, the Accounting functions, the Contracts and the Commercial and Trading Divisions.
All financial and general company administration is controlled from the Head Office in Gaborone Botswana.
CONTRACTS DEPARTMENT
Our Electrical Contracting Department is made up of two main divisions: -
1. Building Services Division.
This division is responsible for the supply and installation of all systems applicable to the building services and associated industry i.e. Lighting, Power, Fire Alarm Systems, Security and Access Control Systems, Building Management Systems, Installation of Data Networks, Power Cable Distribution Networks, Street Lighting Installations, Standby Power Generation Systems, Uninterrupted Power Supply Systems, Airfield Lighting, Public Address Systems, Factory Installations, Stadium Lighting, Design and Installation of Photovoltaic Systems and specialist Medical systems.
Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd has engineering and contract management staff that enables us to handle turnkey projects from design, installation, commissioning and planned maintenance. We are agents for Aberdare Cables (Pty) Ltd one of the leaders in the manufacture of Power, Telecommunication and Fiber Optic cables in the region. Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd, is also the distributor of Siemens products for Botswana. Our engineers and artisans have had extensive experience in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic and copper data network and control systems.
Maintenance
Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd has an electrical maintenance department which develops and implements planned maintenance of electrical systems on major installations within Botswana including factory maintenance, building maintenance, airfield lighting maintenance etc. Specialist services are employed and project managed by our staff as and when required to ensure that all systems are running in accordance with our clients’ requirements.
Francistown Contracting
We have Contracts Engineers
permanently located in Francistown to run contracts in the region both for the
Building Service and Distribution Departments.
Commercial and Trading Department -- Gaborone
This division of Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd supplies a full range of materials to the electrical contracting industry and general public at competitive prices. Our staff is trained to treat the customer in a courteous manner ensuring they receive the most professional and technically sound information and assistance.
Commercial and Trading Department -- Francistown
This branch stocks and supplies a full range of electrical materials in the north of Botswana. The staff is trained to provide an efficient professional and technical service to the customer.
